Jamaican-born photographer Elaine Dickson specializes in documentary photography and portraiture, focusing on a diverse range of subjects, from schoolchildren in Jamaica, remote, forgotten communities, to polo games. Working primarily in the digital photography medium, she draws most of her inspiration from ordinary people, their circumstances and the local surroundings. Much of her work is also influenced by a deep interest and connection to the history and culture of Jamaica, and how the inhabitants interact in, and are shaped by the environment.
Currently living in Northeast Rhode Island, Dickson also works with NGOs, such as Reading Owls International on issues of poverty and education, which allows her to merge her photography with social good.
