Pilgrimage to Clifton, Jamaica

This remote town of Clifton has captivated me since the very first time I visited as a teenager. Clifton is the birthplace of my mother, and my husband, and in many ways, it is my home. I started to photograph the community several years ago, initially to develop my own voice as a photographer, and later to record my personal observations. Over the years I have come to see Clifton as both vulnerable, and antiquated, but its people are welcoming, resilient, and have a strong connection to each other, and to the land on which they farm, and live.
